Incident Wire
CHECKING SOURCE…Official Sources & Datasets
Methodology & next steps
Global feed: entries tagged GLOBAL are fetched live, in your browser, from two independent public OSINT sources — Wikipedia's "List of terrorist incidents in 2026" table and the GDELT Project's DOC 2.0 news API — both free, key-free, and CORS-open, so no backend is needed. The badge above the feed reports exactly which combination loaded: LIVE — Wikipedia + GDELT, one of the two alone if the other is unreachable, or SAMPLE DATA if both fail and a small fallback set is shown instead. It's never ambiguous which you're looking at.
US / Israel / Japan chips and entries: these remain manually curated, not live. DHS NTAS, ITIC, and PSIA don't publish a public, CORS-accessible API — pulling from them live would require a backend (e.g. a Cloudflare Pages Function) to fetch and parse their bulletin pages server-side, which is outside what a static site can do on its own. The Europe and Australia source tabs (Europol TE-SAT, ASIO, etc.) are link-outs only for the same reason.
Tier colors are used structurally: blue = routine/low, yellow = guarded, red = elevated, black = severe — illustrative and not an official designation from any agency. For live Wikipedia entries, tier is a simple casualty-count heuristic, not an official threat-level assignment.
